  • Parchment paper or silicone mat
  • Mixing bowl
  • Small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl
  • Pastry brush
  • Knife or pizza cutter

Method

  1. Preheat Oven
  2. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  4. In a bowl, combine diced apples, sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and flour. Toss to coat evenly.
  5. Prepare the Pastry
  6. Roll out puff pastry sheets and cut into 6 squares.
  7. Fill & Fold
  8. Spoon a few tablespoons of apple mixture onto the center of each square. Fold diagonally to form a triangle. Press edges with a fork to seal.
  9. Egg Wash
  10. Brush each turnover with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  11. Bake
  12. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.
  13. Optional Glaze
  14. Mix powdered sugar with milk until smooth. Drizzle over cooled turnovers.

Notes

Use Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples for the best texture.
Let turnovers cool slightly before glazing to prevent melting.
Freeze unbaked turnovers for later baking — bake from frozen, adding 5–7 minutes to cooking time.
Add a pinch of ground cloves or cardamom for a spiced twist.
