Ingredients
  

  • For the Eggs
  • 6 large eggs
  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika optional, for garnish
  • For the Spider Topping
  • 6 black olives pitted
  • 1 –2 tbsp cream cheese or mayo to help adhere

  • Medium saucepan
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon or small piping bag
  • Knife
  • Cutting board

Method
 

  1. Boil the Eggs
  2. Place eggs in a saucepan and cover with water.
  3. Bring to a boil, then turn off the heat and cover for 10–12 minutes.
  4. Cool in ice water, peel, and slice in half lengthwise.
  5. Prepare the Deviled Filling
  6. Remove yolks and place in a mixing bowl.
  7. Mash yolks with mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  8. Fill the Eggs
  9. Spoon or pipe the yolk mixture back into the egg whites.
  10. Make Olive Spiders
  11. Slice each black olive in half for the body.
  12. Cut thin strips for legs.
  13. Assemble spiders on top of the deviled eggs using a little cream cheese or mayo to stick.
  14. Garnish & Serve
  15. Sprinkle a pinch of paprika for color (optional).
  16. Serve immediately or chill until ready to serve.

Notes

For extra spooky effect, use whole black olives for the body and cut tiny slivers for legs.
Make ahead: prepare deviled eggs and spiders separately, assemble just before serving.
Try adding a tiny dab of sriracha or smoked paprika for a “bloody” touch.
