Ingredients

  • 1 8 oz wheel of brie cheese
  • 1 sheet puff pastry thawed
  • 1 egg beaten, for egg wash
  • 1 tbsp honey or fig jam optional, for extra flavor
  • 2 sliced black olives or candy eyes for the mummy eyes

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Small knife or pizza cutter
  • Pastry brush
  • Oven

Method

  1. Preheat the Oven
  2. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Prepare the Brie
  4. If desired, spread a thin layer of honey or fig jam on top of the brie.
  5. Create the Mummy Wraps
  6. Cut the puff pastry into thin strips (about ½ inch wide). Wrap them loosely around the brie, leaving small gaps so it looks like mummy bandages.
  7. Add the Eyes
  8. Place olive slices or candy eyes near the top for the mummy’s face.
  9. Brush and Bake
  10. Brush the puff pastry with beaten egg for a shiny, golden finish. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
  11. Serve
  12. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving. Serve warm with crackers, apple slices, or pretzels.

Notes

Add a layer of fig, apricot, or raspberry jam for a sweet touch before wrapping.
You can use candy eyes for a fun presentation (remove before eating).
Make ahead: assemble the brie, refrigerate, and bake just before serving.
Serve immediately for the best melty texture.
